Outreach

Outreach is very important to the parishioners of St. John’s, and “feeding” ministries are a big part of our efforts.

Our Food Pantry is open by appointment and to drop-ins Monday-Wednesday, and Friday.

Feeding Ministries

In the Baptismal Covenant, we promise to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors, as ourselves. At St. John’s, one way we do this is through our feeding ministries.

Our Food Pantry is the only upcountry pantry that has food available weekly. Our Food Pantry is open by appointment and to drop -ins Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Anyone who calls is able to set up an appointment to stop by for a bag (or bags, depending on family size) of non perishable groceries, no questions asked. Bags often contain such items as rice, cereal, milk, tuna, peanut butter, pasta, pasta sauce, and canned fruits and vegetables. Occasionally, thanks to the generosity of local farmers, we are able to offer freshly grown fruits and vegetables as well.

We also host a Community Dinner on the last Friday of every month from 5:30-6:30pm which is FREE and open to all.  We are pleased to be able to host members of the larger Upcountry community.

A Cup Of Cold Water

A Cup of Cold Water Community Care Van (ACCW).  The Care Van is a joint ministry of the four Episcopal Churches of Maui and the Diocese of Hawaii.  ACCW recently received a $15,000 grant to fund half the cost of the van which brings food, water, clothing, and first aid supplies, directly to homeless people on Maui.  To get involved, please contact the church office and we will put you in touch with the leaders of each of these important ministries.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
