Green Team
In response to the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii’s resolution in 2021, St. John’s Church formed a Green Team to help expand the level of discourse on the topics of the Climate Crisis and global warming. Our team works with the Diocesan Creation Care and Environmental Justice Task Force to help reduce the carbon footprint of our church and address waste through reducing, reusing and recycling.
We prioritize care for God’s creation through the implementation of educational events and programs designed to increase awareness and encourage changed attitudes and habits. Some of our recent initiatives have been a Carbon Fast calendar for Lent, an Earth Hour event, and a Zero Waste coffee hour along with conducting an energy audit.
