Members of St. John’s gathered with members of the Kula Catholic Community at Keokea Park on April 13 to celebrate Palm Sunday, in commemoration of our Lord’s entrance into Jerusalem and the beginning of Holy Week. Associate Pastor David Jackson led a short homily to remind us all of how we might wisely spend this coming week and keep Jesus in our hearts. Reverends Kerith Harding and Dr. Thomas Joseph blessed the congregants palms with holy water and members processed back to their respective churches singing “The King of Glory.” St. John’s members then participated in a reading of The Passion according to Matthew. A lively coffee hour followed. And students of the Sunday School class were delighted to find a monarch chrysalis in the play yard since they have been following the 40 days of lent with a caterpillar chart… on Easter the caterpillar will become a butterfly, symbolic of the glorious transformation that Jesus’ resurrection has upon our lives.
